What were the most significant Combat and Medical Changes from the start of WWI, beginning in 1914 to the end of the war in 1918?
Transition From Human & Animal Power to Machine Power Changed The War Efforts This meant that instead of man+horse running into battle in 1914, it slowly changed to men in tanks, men in aircraft and men in submarines. It went from a 2 dimensional war to a 3 dimensional war. This meant that it wasn't just fighting face to face, but defending the skies, the waters and the land beneath their feet. Embracing technological warfare and machinery helped the war effort in many ways because animals needed food, shelter and rest whereas machinery did not. It was replaceable. In the beginning of World War I, the soldiers had single shot weaponry but by the end of the war, the soldiers had rapid fire artillery, machine guns and combustion engines (like trains) |
